Karsten Mickein, geb. 1965, erfuhr mit Begeisterung seine ersten musikalischen Schritte im Alter von 7 Jahren in einer Musikschule in seiner Heimatstadt Spremberg. Der Wunsch sich musikalisch beruflich zu verwirklichen erfolgte mit der Ausbildung zum Musikpädagogen am Konservatorium Cottbus und einem Musikstudium an der Hochschule für Musik „Carl Maria von Weber“ in Dresden im Bereich Popularmusik (Saxophon) und Klassik (Blockflöte). Das von ihm verwendete Instrumentarium gestattet die musikalische Vielfalt in die Richtungen Rock, Pop, Jazz (sax./clar.) bis hin zu barocker Musik (Blockflöte) oder auch sorbischer Folklore mit dem wendischen Dudelsack. Seit 1992 gibt er als freischaffender Musiker Instrumentalunterricht an der Kreismusikschule Dahme/Spreewald und leitete dort das Musikschulorchester. Er spielt solistisch sowie in verschiedenen Formationen (Modern East Big Band der FH Lausitz, Spreeriver Dixieland Band, Happy Big Band). ***** Karsten Mickein, born in 1965, was enthusiastic about his first musical steps at the age of seven at a music school in his hometown Spremberg.
